About Lobby Cards
Lobby cards are promotional materials that were distributed by film studios to movie theaters and displayed in theater lobbies—hence the name “lobby card.”
They were created to introduce the film’s cast, scenes, and elements of the story to audiences.
Lobby cards were widely used from the 1940s through the early 2000s.
Their size and designs vary by country, ranging from small formats to pieces around 30 cm in size.
With the shift toward digital promotion, very few film studios produce lobby cards today. As a result, they have become highly collectible items with dedicated fans around the world.
Although the value of lobby cards often varies depending on the country of publication, Studio Ghibli titles are highly regarded regardless of origin due to their global popularity.
Among them, the Japanese editions—the original country of release—are considered the most desirable.
For this event, we are pleased to present a lineup centered on Japanese editions, along with French and Greek editions, allowing collectors to compare and enjoy different international versions.
After searching collections around the world, we believe that this lineup—covering nearly all Ghibli titles—is truly museum-level.
Not only for our store, but even worldwide, opportunities to see such a comprehensive collection in one place are extremely rare.
We hope you will take this chance to explore the collection.
Seeing lobby cards from different years and different countries side by side may reveal new discoveries even for experienced collectors.
About the T-Shirts
For this event, the lineup will focus mainly on official overseas T-shirts produced in the 2010s–2020s, with only a small selection of vintage pieces.
Vintage T-shirts have established themselves as highly collectible items traded globally due to their wide variety and cultural significance.
Among them, Studio Ghibli T-shirts produced during the original releases of the 1980s and 1990s are especially rare, with extremely limited production and very little circulation on the market.
The gap between the small number originally produced and the enormous popularity today has made these shirts a “holy grail” item sought after by many collectors.
At the same time, as global attention toward Studio Ghibli continues to grow, T-shirts produced after 2010—when production numbers increased—have also rapidly risen in both value and market demand.
For this reason, this event highlights these more recent pieces, which can be considered “next-generation vintage.”
Currently, these items are still available at accessible prices, making them appealing not only to experienced collectors but also to those who may be considering their first vintage T-shirt purchase.
